The Virtual Gallery
Take a sneak peek at a few of the many handcrafted panes of stained glass at Roots of Knowledge. Altogether, Roots of Knowledge incorporates 60,000 pieces of glass, as well as actual rock, fossils, coins, meteorite, petrified wood, and coral; materials were carefully selected to authentically illustrate the narrative to each historic event.
Panel B-2 illustrates swirling matter coming together and forming the universe, the constellation Orion and Copernicus’ solar system model showing the sun as the center of the universe.
Panel I-2 includes Ireland’s Cliffs of Moher, the Colosseum, the Ptolemy World Map, and Cicero. It also includes two of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: The Lighthouse of Alexandria and the statue of Zeus at Olympia.
Panel L-2 features the Tatev Monastery of Armenia, as well as the Borgund Stave Church in Norway, Moai head sculptures on Easter Island, a gondola and viking ship, the Chapel Bridge in Lucerne, Switzerland, and Stirling Castle in Scotland.
